Boutari was founded in Naoussa in 1879 by Ioannis Boutaris, great-grandfather of the current president and managing director, Konstantinos Boutaris. The Boutari company has made a significant contribution to Greek vine-growing and wine-making, particularly in the Naoussa region.
It is currently one of the largest wine-making companies in Greece, with privately-owned wineries and vineyards in Goumenissa, Santorini, Crete, Mantinia and Limoux in Southern France, as well as the one in Naoussa. The Naoussa winery, located in Stenimachos, processes approximately 1500 tonnes of grapes every year, and has one of the largest aging cellars in Greece. The Filyria Estate in Goumenissa cultivates a total of 6.4 hectares with the varieties Xinomavro and Negoska, and abides by the standards for organic cultivation.
The company produces 10 labels and exports wine to more than twenty countries.
