The Babatzimopoulos family’s occupation with viticulture, distilling and the wine trade dates back to the end of the 19th century.
In 1974 Anestis Babatzimopoulos planted his first privately-owned vineyard at Ossa, and created the Babatzimopoulos Estate there. He now cultivates a 26.5 hectare vineyard in accordance with the standards for organic farming, growing the varieties Roditis, Malagouzia, Malvasia, Chardonnay, Trebianno, Xinomavro, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The vineyard is surrounded by orchards and forests, which help create a unique ecosystem.
In 2000, the winery was built in the middle of the vineyard, with a production capacity of 150,000 bottles, a fully-equipped production line, rooms for aging the wines, and a visitor area.
They produce 10 labels and export on a small scale.
